Video recipe competition offers $25,000 grand prize to families recording the creation of a flavorful dish seasoned with Lawry's®.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 31, 2007 -- With the summer season upon us, families can enjoy the pleasures of cooking together outdoors and at the same time have a chance to win a $25,000 cash grand prize by entering the Lawry's® Tasty Traditions Reel Creative Meals contest, simply by videotaping their creation of a tasty recipe. Lawry's® is closing out the grilling season with the Reel Creative Meals contest, a competition that seeks the best original food entry using Lawry's® Seasoned Salt, Garlic Salt or one of the 14 varieties of Lawry's® Marinades. Winners will be judged based upon the following criteria: creativity of recipe and video, perceived taste, and use of Lawry's® products. In a nod to the growing popularity of consumer-generated content and on-line video sharing sites, the video submitted by the Grand Prize winner of Reel Creative Meals will be featured on www.lawrysfoodtube.com. In addition to the Grand Prize, the Tasty Traditions Reel Creative Meals contest offers ten runner-up prizes of $1,000.

"Lawry's® is all about inspiring great flavor not only in food, but in life, as well," says Jamey Fish, Lawry's® Senior Brand Manager. "As families come together to grill outdoors this summer for picnics, family reunions and other events, we know they'll have a video camera in hand. By taping their preparation of a dish using our seasonings or marinades, they're already on their way to winning. Reel Creative Meals brings families together for great food inspired by unique pairings of our seasonings."

To get the camera rolling in Southern California, Lawry's® will host the last of its Reel Creative Meals in-store demonstrations at select Ralphs and Food 4 Less stores featuring two of Los Angeles' renowned chefs, Marilyn Cole of Chef Marilyn's Soul Food Express and Sergio Casas of El 7 Mares Restaurant. To assist the chefs, Lawry's® has partnered with the Susan M. Dorsey High School Culinary Arts Academy to provide internships for student chefs in Los Angeles.

On Saturday, August 11, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Lawry's® will showcase the talents of Chef Marilyn at Food 4 Less, located 1299 W. Artesia Boulevard at the corner of Normandie Avenue in Gardena.

On Sunday, August 12 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the in-store demonstration with Chef Sergio Casas will take place at Ralphs supermarket, located at 3300 W. Slauson Avenue at the corner of Crenshaw Boulevard in Los Angeles.

"I love the versatility of Lawry's® seasonings and marinades and the flavor it brings to the food I serve in my restaurant and at home," said Chef Marilyn. "The cooking demonstration the student chefs and I have planned will definitely get the contestants' creative juices flowing as they plan their recipe entries. Not only will they get some good ideas, but everyone will get to sample dishes featuring Lawry's® seasonings, too!"

The veteran and student chefs will share sensational seasoning, grilling and food presentation tips to help contestants get ready to enter the Reel Creative Meals $25,000 contest. As a bonus, shoppers will have an opportunity to taste the prepared dishes flavored with Lawry's® seasonings and marinades.
