Yes, you can check in for just a few hours at many in-airport hotels. Just ask for the day rate, which is about half of the normal rate, and be aware of restrictions. For example, many require that you vacate the room by 5 p.m.

Boston, MA (Vocus) July 10, 2007 -- Recent reports of a higher-than-usual number of delayed, canceled and overbooked flights this summer are creating higher-than-usual stress levels for fliers. Flight deals publisher Cheapflights.com and aviation expert Jerry Chandler have released a new traveler’s guide that can help make delays less stressful for fliers.

The downloadable “In-Airport Hotels Guide to Sanity Saving Enclaves” and companion podcast feature a lesser-known airport oasis for weary travelers -- in-airport hotels -- those in or attached to airport terminals. The guide and podcast are free and can be downloaded at http://www.cheapflights.com/travel-guide-podcasts/.

“This guide just might save your sanity if you find yourself facing a delayed departure or canceled flight or even if you are just looking for break from an exhausting itinerary or interminable connection time,” said Chandler.

When delays strike, or when short layovers become multi-hour affairs, savvy flyers take advantage of in-airport hotel rooms, a lesser-known airport amenity. With most within walking distance, in-airport hotels are a great option for weary travelers. Offering a convenient haven for an unexpected overnight stay, or a layover-oasis to grab a quick nap, shower, workout or in-room dining service.

“Yes, you can check in for just a few hours at many in-airport hotels. Just ask for the day rate, which is about half of the normal rate, and be aware of restrictions. For example, many require that you vacate the room by 5 p.m.,” Chandler said.
