World War II Veteran and Scholar Adds Passion, Drama, and Humor to History with His Eyewitness Account

A View From Above, airman Carl D. Petit's personal account of World War II and its causes and effects, enlivens the past with valuable perspective and insight.

Charleston, South Carolina (PRWEB) July 19, 2007 -- Veteran and author Carl D. Petit is passionate about World War II. He offers readers a better understanding and a broader knowledge of the war in A View From Above, his memoir and historical account of both his own service as an airman and the greater pictures of the war in Europe and the Pacific.

A View From Above is a rare book, combining intimacy and fact to fascinating effect. Petit shares grief at the death of fellow soldiers and lauds the accomplishments of others while placing these very personal events within the larger context of events leading up to and during World War II with astounding insight.

The result of four years of detailed research, A View From Above is much more than a history text. Petit's personal experience in the military theaters of Europe adds an uncommon depth as well as accuracy that will excite and inform students and history buffs young and old.
