International Contest Recognizes Excellence in Creative Media
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 20, 2007 -- The Communicator Awards, a leading international awards program recognizing creative excellence in the communications field, has announced Bonfire Communications, an organizational communications agency specializing in employee engagement and strategy implementation, among its winners for the 13th annual print media competition.
Bonfire Communications received four awards of distinction for excellence in employee publications. Of the four awards, two were for Bonfire's work with Banana Republic on the "Fashion Your Future" store career development campaign. Bonfire's implementation strategy for the campaign included high impact collateral designed to engage employees in the company's vision and commitment to a culture of career development. In-store posters showcased employee success stories, and interactive guides for managers and employees helped facilitate career conversations across the company. All print material was designed with the fast-moving, fashion-centric employees of Banana Republic in mind.
"When it comes to communicating to employees, Bonfire really gets it," said Ben Putterman, director of learning and development at Banana Republic. "With Bonfire's help we rolled out a store career development campaign that has helped educate our employees on the numerous career opportunities here at Banana -- and most importantly, on how to have career conversations."
Putterman added, "The results have been phenomenal and today we are living within a development culture which is invaluable for maintaining our edge in the retail world."
Bonfire was also recognized with two awards of distinction for Harrah's Entertainment's bilingual "Choosing Wellness" benefits enrollment campaign. "Choosing Wellness" was designed for 49,000 benefits-eligible employees and effectively communicated the company's value investment in employee health and well-being while simplifying complex benefit options using graphic models, tools and sample scenarios.
"Having recently acquired Caesars, we were coming out of a major merger and in need of one unified benefits program," said Shana Wiley, manager of benefits programs at Harrah's Entertainment. "Given just two months to design, develop and deliver a bilingual campaign on a lightning-fast schedule with multiple communication vehicles, Bonfire exceeded our every expectation."
Wiley added, "We tripled the level of FSA participation as compared to the previous year and experienced an 83% participation rate overall. In the end, we effectively introduced a new consumer-driven health plan and unified 40 gaming and entertainment properties under one comprehensive program."
Bonfire chief executive Gordon Rudow commented on the awards saying, "We particularly appreciate this honor. Unlike other competitions, the Communicator Awards are judged without an accompanying work plan which means the collateral must carry it's own weight and communicate messaging without the help of supplementary explanation."
Rudow added, "This is a great validation that our audience-centric communication planning approach helps our clients connect with and engage their employees in a very compelling way."
Founded by communication professionals over a decade ago, The Communicator Awards holds annual competitions for audio, video and print media. Entries and winners have come from all 50 states and numerous foreign countries. The print media competition takes place in late winter of each year.
