Access and Manipulate Data on the Web with Kirix Strata, a New Specialty Browser

"Strata enables people to perform painless, ad hoc data analysis wherever their data is located."

Elmhurst, IL (PRWEB) July 20, 2007 -- Kirix Corporation unveiled Kirix Strata, its new "data browser" built to quickly and easily use data from the web. Strata enables users to access web tables, RSS Feeds and CSV files directly from the web without requiring a download. Once that data is available, Strata lets you create calculations, sort, filter and develop queries and reports -- the type of functionality most often found in desktop databases or spreadsheets.

Strata is a rich internet application, so it works just as well with offline data as online data. Users may work with local data files such as those created in Microsoft Access and Excel or tables located in database systems such as Oracle and MySQL Enterprise. For rendering the web, Strata incorporates the proven Mozilla Foundation's Gecko engine.

"We often see people go to a spreadsheet for their data analysis needs, but they lack in database-type functionality. The next choice would be a desktop database, but is often too complex for people to use," said Ken Kaczmarek, CFO of Kirix. "Strata enables people to perform painless, ad hoc data analysis wherever their data is located -- whether it is local, on a network, in a web-based reporting system or on the public web."

Strata also includes an implementation of ECMAScript (e.g., Javascript) so that more advanced users can create personal "desktop mashups" with Web APIs or develop custom application extensions.

Kirix Strata is currently in beta and Kirix is seeking people who wish to preview and provide feedback on the technology. Strata is immediately available for download from the Kirix website (www.kirix.com/download) for both Windows and the Linux desktop.
