iPhone Propelling AT&T Wireless Cell Phone Sales Across The Board

The well-hyped iPhone may be a technological breakthrough, but it is doing more to boost all AT&T Wireless phones and non-Apple music phones.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 25, 2007 -- Whether iPhone lives up to the hype, it certainly has affected the cell phone market. The free advertising that iPhone generated has done much to boost the perception of AT&T as the undisputed cell phone leader, plus it has contributed to the proliferation and popularity of many other music phones.

"In the buildup to the iPhone release, and particularly since then, our AT&T sales have increased some 54%," said Sam Michelson, CEO of online cell phone store, YouNeverCall. "Music phone sales have taken off, particularly Cingular phones, which, of course, are now AT&T Wireless."

Music phone sales have taken off, particularly Cingular phones, which, of course, are now AT&T Wireless.
Studies have shown that while trendy types may be tempted by the iPhone, cell phone consumers still want the look and feel of a classical cell phone, and for a much better price. Examples of some free cell phones at YouNeverCall made even more popular by the iPhone buildup are the Sony phones. The Sony Ericsson W300i has been flying off the shelves, while the Sony 600 and the Sony 800 series are temporarily out of stock.

"Lately, the most sought after feature in cell phones are MP3 players," adds Michelson. "The industry is fulfilling that need; even BlackBerry phones play MP3s."

However, though people enjoy having music on their phone, it seems unlikely that this music phone trend will make the iPod obsolete. A YouNeverCall study shows that despite the buying trends, most people prefer to use a cell phone for making calls and an MP3 player or an iPod for listening to iTunes. Meanwhile, AT&T is enjoying its unprecedented popularity and AT&T Wireless music phone sales are brisk.
