Combining Hispanic heritage and home decorating under one roof, Sabor Y Hogar (taste and home) has been established to include products that are made from Hispanic nations around the world.

Pine Island, NY (PRWEB) July 27, 2007 -- Combining Hispanic heritage and home decorating under one roof, Sabor Y Hogar (taste and home) has been established to include products that are made from Hispanic nations around the world.

News Image"We want to be able to show products that reflect the cultures and colors of the various countries. In addition we want to incorporate popular themes, either by color or trend that will work with today's homes. We didn't just want to have items that would have a touristy nature to them, instead we went looking for products that would fit into any home as well as show fine craftsmanship," said Sofia Gottfried, owner.

Growing up in the ethnic melting pot of New York City Gottfried was surrounded by friends that came from countries all over Central and South America as well as the Caribbean. "It was both our language and our pride in our heritage that united us," said Gottfried. It is with this sentiment in mind that Sabor Y Hogar was born.

A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, Gottfried has been involved in the fashion industry ever since. The last 20 years have been spent in the home textiles industries working with top retailers across the country.

Many of the products featured are hand crafted by artisans from various countries and reflect traditional workmanship. Some of the products come from regions where the artisans are working in association with special groups. These groups are focused in assisting the artisans to provide incomes for their families such as the women's cooperative of EL Cerro, in Nicaragua. The website is available in both English and Spanish.

In the future some products will be designed specifically for Sabor Y Hogar. They also plan to feature art by various Hispanic artists, traditional as well as up and coming.
