College Bedding Options for Dorm Decorating

With summer winding down and millions of young adults across America heading to college, decorating a dorm room is but one of many challenges they face. Image Bedding CEO Tony Brobst offers advice for making the most of your living spaces.

Tulsa, Okla. (PRWEB) July 27, 2007 -- With summer winding down and millions of young adults across America heading to college, decorating a dorm room is but one of many challenges they face. Image Bedding CEO Tony Brobst offers advice for making the most of college living spaces.

"Dorms are tiny," Brobst said. "They feel about the size of a postage stamp; they have these long, thin regulation beds; and you're sharing it all with another person. It can be very difficult to get your bedroom feeling like you."

Whether it's movies and music, butterflies and rainbows, or your own college colors, choosing a theme is going to make all your other dorm decorating decisions fall into place
Choosing a theme is one of the biggest dorm decorating decisions somebody can make. Once the theme is chosen, it's much easier to pick out college bedding, rugs and wall decorations.

"Whether it's movies and music, butterflies and rainbows, or your own college colors, choosing a theme is going to make all your other dorm decorating decisions fall into place," said Brobst. "Naturally, you need to compromise with your roommate on whatever your theme will be. It's their room, too."

If it's impossible for two roommates to agree on a theme, perhaps they can instead pick a color scheme they both can live with.

Since space is paramount in dorm rooms, Brobst said, it's a good idea to really focus on your bed.

"Your bed is the biggest piece of furniture in your room," Brobst said. "It will probably double for a lot of things: a sofa, a study area, a dining table, storage, you name it. Pick some college bedding that not only reflects your style, but won't immediately show dirt. Also, a set of bed risers and a few long rubber tubs will give you quite a bit of extra storage."

Plastic crates, colorful hat boxes, and closet organizers like shoe racks will go a long way to making the most of the space in the dorms.
