Safestyle UK has provided soccer kits for one of a series of football matches in association with Baker Tilly, for two major charitable causes.
(PRWEB) July 13, 2007 -- Even out of the soccer season Safestyle, the UK's largest independent PVCu replacement window and door manufacturer and retailer, has scored a significant goal for two major charitable causes. The company's latest fundraising effort has been in association with Baker Tilly, the UK's 7th largest accountancy and business advisory firm, when they provided the soccer kits for one of a series of football matches to raise funds for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme and the Anthony Nolan Trust.
The matches were played at ten locations throughout the country linked to the Baker Tilly offices and raised more than £30,000 for the two charities. The Leeds leg was played at the Leeds United training grounds at Thorp Arch and was supported by the team's Mascot, Lucas the Kop Cat. It saw the Baker Tilly team playing against a variety of former football stars and leading business personalities.
John Ross, Chief Executive of the Style Group, parent company of Safestyle UK, explained: "We have a strong programme of support for local and national charities and on this occasion we believed Baker Tilly's efforts to help the two charities was well worth supporting. Even though the sport is a little out of season, there were some silky skills on display and the Leeds event's contribution to the national total was impressive."
In an end to end thriller, the result was unimportant, although for the record the visiting legends team, consisting of a mix of local well known businessmen, including Dean Slingsby from Stainforth Construction, John Bell from Yorkshire Bank; Michael Michelson from CLC Finance; Gerard Corcoran from Real Affinity; Mark Burns from Clarion Solicitors, Bob Smalley from HSBC and Baker Tilly's audit partner Anthony Elston, came out winners by 10 goals to 5.
