Celebrity Rock SuperGroup 'SCRAP METAL' To Headline MelodicRock Fest

Celebrity rock supergroup SCRAP METAL has been announced to headline MelodicRock Fest, the upcoming 10th Anniversary Concert for MelodicRock.com in South Bend, Indiana.

Nashville, TN (Billboard Publicity Wire) July 31, 2007 -- Celebrity rock supergroup SCRAP METAL has been announced to headline MelodicRock Fest, the upcoming 10th Anniversary Concert for MelodicRock.com in South Bend, Indiana.

Members of SCRAP METAL, a who's who of multi-platinum lead singers and front men, include Kelly Keagy of NIGHT RANGER whose number one rock hits include "Sister Christian", "Don't Tell Me You Love Me", and "You Can Still Rock In America"; Eric Martin of MR. BIG whose number one hits include "To Be With You" and "Just Take My Heart"; Gunnar Nelson and Matthew Nelson the twin sons of Rock'n'Roll Legend Ricky Nelson, of rock group NELSON whose pop/rock number one hits include "(Can't Live Without Your) Love and Affection", "After the Rain", and "More Than Ever"; and Mark Slaughter of SLAUGHTER whose penned number one hits include "Up All Night Sleep All Day" and "Fly to the Angels".

"In the late 60s," declares Eric Martin, "the term 'Supergroup' was coined to describe music groups made up of members who had already achieved fame or respect in other groups or as individual artists." He goes on to say, "For me, that's SCRAP METAL without blinking an eye or getting weirded out about it," declaring "This is a brotherhood made up of guys who have left the baggage at home (so to speak) and have come to play and have fun. When I was a kid all I dreamed about was being in a band that got along, rocked hard and left the audience wanting more…I seem to be surrounded by talented musicians with the same dream as me."

Andrew McNeice, of MelodicRock.com enthused, "When the idea for this show came up during a conversation with Kelly Keagy, it was immediately clear who would be awesome to headline. The line-up of SCRAP METAL is second to none and the array of hit songs just between these few guys is staggering." He said, "Add in the fact that the guys have a true musical kinship with each other and also share my enthusiasm for having a great time while playing some truly kick-ass rock'n'roll and it is a perfect match. Their willingness to share the stage and their talent with even more special guests means those present are going to see a true once in a lifetime rock'n'roll event."

"I heard that the promoters are holding the Melodic Rock Festival where they are because so much fun in one place at one time is currently illegal in the other forty-nine states," reveals band co-founder Gunnar Nelson. "Along with the other Scraps, I'm completely torqued up about this show. I assure you we'll be there to play nothing but the hits you know, love, and have had sex to... and we're going to be bringing our A-game with us".

Hot on the heels of their monumental signing with the William Morris Agency, SCRAP METAL announced their special guests for the day long music festival event will include Jack Blades of NIGHT RANGER; Jim Peterik of PRIDE OF LIONS, formerly of SURVIVOR; Jimi Jamison formerly of SURVIVOR; and Joe Lynn Turner of RAINBOW / DEEP PURPLE.

All the artists involved are passionate about supporting the web's cornerstone rock music site, and celebrating MelodicRock.com's 10th anniversary. "The internet is now the way of the future. MelodicRock.com is instrumental in telling people where the artists are playing and how hard they ROCK!" enthuses band co-founder Mark Slaughter.

MelodicRock Fest will be held on Saturday, October 6th in South Bend, Indiana at the Morris Performing Arts Center 211 N. Michigan Street, South Bend, Indiana 46601. Tickets are $47, $37 and $27 and can be purchased at the Morris Center box office in person, online at www.morriscenter.org or by phone Toll Free 1-800-537-6415.
