Mitio provides bilingual working adults online program for medical interpreting.

Atlanta, GA (AffinityWire/PRWeb) August 7, 2007 -- The Medical Interpreting and Translating Institute Online (Mitio), an industry leader in online delivery of medical interpreting and translating education, today announced that is has obtained accreditation from the National Accreditation Agency.

MNews Imageitio's accreditation allows it to be on par with other university sponsored interpreting programs. Mitio's program is a value added certification program, as it is self contained, this means that the student need not purchase any further materials once enrolled in the course. The program is also continuous, meaning that the student can enroll at any time and begin immediately once payment is received. The program also uses Blackboard, a recognized leader in online course delivery as its platform. This platform allows for discussion of interpreting and translating related topics from enrolled students across the nation. Lastly, the program is self paced, meaning that the student can complete the course in as little as six weeks, but is allowed up to a year for completion.

Students need not be currently in the medical field or interpreters to enroll, however students currently working in facilities that serve predominantly Hispanic patients are eligible for a scholarship that brings their tuition down to $250.00. Students can enroll into the program directly through Mitio's website.

The program consist of three courses that cover the interpreters professional code of ethics, interpreting procedures and protocol, as well as translating guidelines, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. These skills are invaluable for the medical interpreter, since they facilitate communication between a patient of Limited English Proficiency (LEP) and a health care provider.
