Poignant New Book Addresses the Turmoil Surrounding an Abortion

In Letters to Pilgrim, author Herbert P. LePore makes peace with the past while addressing a hot-button political topic.

East Moline, Illinois (PRWEB) August 9, 2007 -- Letters to Pilgrim by Dr. Herbert P. LePore is a series of heartfelt letters written to the author's aborted baby girl, to whom he gave the name Pilgrim. Confronting his pain and regret, LePore began compiling the book after attending an abortion healing retreat.

As a young graduate student in southern California, LePore became involved in a relationship with a young woman that led to an abortion. The book describes the conflict between the author and the baby's mother over his failed efforts to talk her out of the procedure. After the death of the baby, LePore began writing letters to his aborted child.

In Letters to Pilgrim, LePore imagines what life might have been like had the baby lived and includes real anecdotes from the author's life. The book is an affirmation of Pilgrim's existence, and it embraces the spiritual side of life including redemption, forgiveness and closure.

Heartbreaking yet hopeful, Letters to Pilgrim exemplifies how love, mercy and forgiveness can transcend the pain, grief and bitterness of abortion. Whether they are pro-choice or pro-life, readers will learn from LePore's firsthand experience with a potentially devastating choice.
