Santa Fe, NM (PRWEB) August 11, 2007 -- Allan Houser, Inc. (www.allanhouser.com) has announced that it will once again be hosting one of the most popular events of the Santa Fe Indian Market Weekend, its 11th annual Open House. Held at the Allan Houser Compound from August 17th through August 19th 2007, visitor will be able to tour the world renowned artist's own gardens from 11:00 A. M. to 4:00 P.M. Featured in the breath-taking natural landscape of the compound are 75 large-scale bronze sculptures exemplifying the extraordinary career of this American Master Artist. The monumental works range from the classic style that Houser developed in the 1970's and 1980's to the soaring abstract forms of his last decade, all of which speak to the artist's commitment to both his heritage and the modernist tradition in which he worked and helped influence.

"I work not just for myself, but to honor the American Indian." Houser once said. "I hope to draw attention to centuries-old Indian values, especially concepts of living in harmony with nature that can benefit all people, if only given the chance."

I work not just for myself, but to honor the American Indian.
Houser arrived in Santa Fe in 1934 at the age of 20 and had the first formal exhibition of his artwork at the Museum of New Mexico in 1937. Upcoming are two exhibitions which will mark the 70 anniversary of this first show.

The Allan Houser organization also recently released a unique set of candid photographs of Houser at work, shot by New Mexican Master Photographer, Lee Marmon. Limited edition prints and box sets are available for sale at both the compound and downtown gallery.

At the Allan Houser Gallery on Lincoln Avenue recent acquisitions of three early painting by Allan Houser, one from 1937, and the other two from the 1950's are also on display for the first time in over 50 years.

The weekend events begin with an Opening Reception at the downtown gallery on August 17th, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. The gallery will be open Saturday, August 18th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and will have special hours on Sunday August, 19th from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
