YouTube.com Competition Begins the Search for the Worlds Greatest Elvis

Elvis Impersonators, Tribute Artists and fans are all 'shook up' at the chance to make the Worlds Greatest Elvis YouTube video.
YouTube is great, it's so simple and easy to use. Anybody can make and post a YouTube video in a few minutes.

London, England (PRWEB) August 14, 2007 -- As part of worldwide celebrations to mark to 30th Anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley, and to promote the worldwide search for The Worlds Greatest Elvis, a special Elvis Tribute Video Competition has just been launched on YouTube.com.

The website promoting the competition, TheWorldsGreatestElvis, originally planned to commission the production of a professional video to launch their search for The Worlds Greatest Elvis.

However, after talking to Elvis fans and having seen the range and quality of videos on YouTube.com they decided to let Elvis fans and YouTube users create their own tribute videos and pick the winning video.

The competition is the brainchild of Robbert J. Lynch, a self-confessed Elvis Fan from Ireland, and the man behind the website TheWorldsGreatestElvis.com. He said, "YouTube is great, it's so simple and easy to use. Anybody can make and post a YouTube video in a few minutes."

Lynch continued "Rather than have some celebrity judge or music personality pick a winning video, we decided to let the Elvis fans and YouTube viewers pick the winner -- we think that's much fairer."

To enter the competition people simply create their video, post it to YouTube and register their video with www.theworldsgreatestelvis.com. The video that gets the most ratings, favored, sites linking to and views by 5.00 pm (EST) on Thursday 15th November 2007 will win a prize of $500. Rules and FAQ's are available on the website Theworldsgreatestelvis.com.

"People can sing, dance, perform, read a poem or just talk to camera -- whatever they like. We want people to be creative, inventive, spontaneous and to simply get involved." Lynch went on to say, "We want everybody to have fun… that's what the music of Elvis was all about."

Mindful of legal issues Lynch cautioned, "naturally any videos that contain any rude, offensive, prohibited material or infringe on the copyright of any Elvis material will be removed immediately -- and will not win."
