On the 4th and 5th of September, the 6th annual Telematics Europe business conference will run inside IFA – the world’s largest consumer trade fair that attracts more than 200,000 trade and consumer visitors.

(PRWEB) August 16, 2007 -- On the 4th and 5th of September, the 6th annual Telematics Europe business conference will run inside IFA – the world’s largest consumer trade fair that attracts more than 200,000 trade and consumer visitors.

This year, the Telematics Europe conference will, for the first time, focus on growing opportunities in the field of in-car infotainment. Of the thousands of exhibitors at IFA, at least 600 of them are involved in the in-car media segment, which makes attendance at these co-located events a must for anyone looking to turn a profit from in-car infotainment in the near future.

The automotive industry is poised at the start of a new age of digital cars where advanced computing platforms will be available in even more vehicles. Tapping into the possibilities – and potential profits – this creates for in-car infotainment has barely just begun.

If the right steps are taken today to enable integrated vehicle computing platforms, then real-time information, communications and content advances will flourish inside the vehicle, and in-car infotainment will bridge the final untapped gap between home and office - and bring in big profits for all the players involved.

But there are still a number of questions that need to be solved now in order to push the industry forward:

  • Can the automotive industry cope with the monstrous explosion of consumer electronics and portable devices?
  • Will consumer awareness and interest in telematics features and products be raised to high enough levels to see mass adoption?
  • Is it possible to reduce system prices to mass-market levels without compromising compelling functionality and quality?
  • What in-car infotainment applications and features will consumers happily pay for?

The Telematics Europe conference has been designed to provide the automotive industry with a meeting place to hammer out the solutions to all these questions and more – with the aim of making telematics and infotainment a must-have option for all new car buyers in 2010.

The timing of this event couldn’t be better – keynote speaker Thilo Koslowski from Gartner notes: “The automotive industry is now embracing telematics more than ever before – now is the time to formulate the strategies and partnerships needed for infotainment services to be out there by 2010.”

Other confirmed speakers at the event include some of the biggest and best names in the industry: OnStar, Audi, Ford, Nissan, Blaupunkt, Vodafone, Delphi-Grundig, Siemens VDO, Harman-Becker, Panasonic, and many more.

There is plenty of food for thought that will be debated at the conference – from TomTom ‘s recent surprise purchase of map provider Tele Atlas to iSuppli’s recent prediction that shipments of HDDs for automotive infotainment systems will reach 16.6 million units by 2013, nearly five times the 3.5 million in 2006.
