The NASA SEWP IV Government Wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC) provides access to leading IT solutions –the C5 Compliance Platform is the first NIST SCAP compliant solution now available via GWAC.

Herndon, VA (PRWEB) Aug. 16, 2007 -- Secure Elements, the industry leader in standards-based IT audit and compliance management, today announced the availability of their C5 Compliance Platform on the NASA Solutions for Enterprise-Wide Procurement (SEWP) Government-wide Acquisition Contract (GWAC). This contract provides the latest in Information Technology (IT) products for all federal agencies, and enables the entire federal government, and their authorized contractors, to purchase the company's C5 Compliance Platform at discounted prices.

On July 31st, 2007, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) announced the open availability of VHDs (virtual hard disks) of the operating system images, the associated Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP) XML content for auditing software configurations against the Federal Desktop Core Configuration (FDDC) baseline for XP and Vista.

On the same day, the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB) memorandum stated that agencies must use tools that are verified as SCAP compliant when monitoring use of these configurations. Compliance by agencies is mandated by February 1, 2008.

As authors of the NIST SCAP XML for auditing XP & Vista, and as the first NIST SCAP compliant vendor to ship an enterprise solution, we are viewed as the leading vendor by which to measure secure configurations in support of OMB and NIST guidance," commented Ned Miller, CEO of Secure Elements. The vision for SEWP is to provide a vehicle for purchasing mission critical, state of the art IT products – to all federal agencies – civilian and defense – as cost effectively as possible. Having our solution as required by OMB available via this vehicle will help ensure this time sensitive challenge can be addressed effectively across the entire federal government."

Strong demand for the solution, and acceptance as the industrys subject matter experts in the NIST SCAP initiative, has warranted inclusion on this GWAC, and several purchases have already resulted. SEWP IV contract holders representing small business, large business, and veteran owned small business provide agency contracting officers options as appropriate to fulfill their agencies needs.
