Phoenix, Ariz. (PRWEB) August 17, 2007 -- Nobody need tell us that the girls of today face challenges unheard of just a few short years ago. Day after day our media presents accounts detailing these challenging situations; drug misuse, violence, discrimination and on-campus school tragedies. 'Somebody needs to do something!' we cry. Now, one company has done something.

Piurek & Associates, a growing Phoenix-based management-consulting firm, recently made a charitable donation to a local community organization, "Girls For A Change" (GFC). In support of the recommendation by the internal company team, Margaret Trujillo, Specialty Consultant with Piurek & Associates, presented Girls For A Change with Piurek's $5,000.00 donation in April 2007.

Zohreh Piurek, co-founder of Piurek & Associates, believes that "Girls For A Change is an innovative grass roots program that taps into the power and strength of girls and young women to change their lives and their communities". Both Piurek & Associates and the recipient of this donation, Girls For A Change, are committed to bringing hope and creating opportunities for girls. "We are honored to be able to make a donation to Girls For A Change and encourage other individuals and businesses to consider supporting Girls For A Change through their own donations," comments Zohreh Piurek.

The Girls For A Change donation will be applied towards training middle and high school girls from low-income communities to be change agents, leaders, and innovators. Alexandra Zavala, GFC Executive Director, stated, "We are thrilled with the donation and financial support from Piurek & Associates. Thanks to their generous donation we will have the resources to offer teenage girls the opportunity to develop their voice, ability, and problem solving capacity to realize their full potential as they create social change throughout Maricopa County."
