Academy of Art University is excited to announce its participation in Avant-Grande, an art show and fundraiser showcasing the creative talents of Academy of Art University students and Starbucks employees.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) August 19, 2007 -- As part of its ongoing dedication to the San Francisco community, Academy of Art University is excited to announce its participation in Avant-Grande, an art show and fundraiser showcasing the creative talents of Academy of Art University students and Starbucks employees. Guests will have the opportunity to admire and purchase the fantastic artwork on display. All of the ticket and artwork sale proceeds will be donated to Kids Serve Youth Murals, a local art education program.

Creativity is a large part of what makes Starbucks tick and its employees are thriving with artistic vision. The concept of Avant-Grande started with the fanciful employee-created chalkboard drawings in Starbucks coffeehouses. One of the employees took notice of Starbucks' abundance of artistic talent and wanted to create an event where fellow coworkers could exhibit their art for everyone to enjoy. After some brainstorming and collaboration, this dream became a reality and thus Avant-Grande was born!

There have been Avant-Grande events all over the country and now, for the second year San Francisco is hosting its own. Academy of Art University is honored to team up with an internationally renowned company with such an outstanding track record of social responsibility.

Ticket sales will benefit San Francisco's Kids Serve Youth Murals, a program that guides students ages 6-18 through the design and creation of permanent outdoor murals. The mural projects integrate social justice, creativity, and community service and empower kids to take a leadership role in beautifying their neighborhoods. The Academy is dedicated to preserving San Francisco's environment while enriching its community and is thrilled to contribute to an organization whose mission closely matches their own.

Avant-Grande will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Terra Gallery
511 Harrison St., San Francisco, CA 94105. Tickets are $20 and all sales are matched by Starbucks and donated to Kids Serve Youth Murals. To purchase tickets, please visit www.kidserve.org.
