Also announces Try It On for the Cure (TM) -- a week-long fundraiser benefiting Komen Greater New York City.

New York, NY (PRWEB) August 22, 2007 -- Coldwater Creek, which has opened its first Manhattan store on Third Avenue and 68th Street, has signed on as a local sponsor for the 2007 Komen NYC Race for the Cure (R). To underscore its commitment to the fight against breast cancer and celebrate the new store, Coldwater Creek will be underwriting Race registrations for survivors who otherwise could not afford to participate, as well as hosting the Survivor Champions Breakfast on August 22, 2007 in their new flagship store.

In addition, the retailer is unveiling Try It On for the Cure (TM). During the week of September 7th, Coldwater Creek will donate $1 to the Komen Greater New York City for every shopper who tries on clothes in a dressing room at the new Manhattan store (1172 Third Avenue @ 68th Street). No purchase is necessary.

Coldwater Creek believes in the vision of a world without breast cancer, and is a third-year National Sponsor of the Race for the Cure (R) series
"Coldwater Creek believes in the vision of a world without breast cancer, and is a third-year National Sponsor of the Race for the Cure (R) series," said Ann Johnson, Marketing Publicity Project Manager. "Now that Manhattan is home to our newest retail store, we wanted to make a commitment to the Greater New York City Komen affiliate and local breast cancer survivors."

Coldwater Creek will be funding Race registrations for 1,000 survivors who might otherwise not be able to afford to participate and haven't been part of the Race in the past, allowing them to join more than 20,000 runners/walkers on Sunday, September 9, 2007 in Central Park. Last year, over 1,500 survivors attended the Race.

Local breast cancer survivors who believe they are eligible for the Coldwater Creek registration program should contact Komen Greater New York City via email at info@komennyc.org or by phone at 212-293-CURE.

Coldwater Creek is also sponsoring the Survivors Champions Breakfast in the new store (1172 Third Avenue @ 68th Street) on Wednesday, August 22 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. The event will be hosted by Tamsen Fadal, CBS 2; keynote speaker will be New York City Council Speaker, Christine Quinn.

Breast cancer survivors will also be able to take advantage of other special benefits on Race Day, including the Survivor Village set up near the finishing line. Before the Race, survivors can eat a light breakfast at the Survivor Cafe (sponsored by ANN TAYLOR). After the Race, they can rest at the SwitchZone (sponsored by Aromasin), which will offer comfortable chairs and foot massages.

The Komen NYC Race for the Cure (R) local presenting sponsor is Citi Smith Barney. New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg is honorary Race chair.

Race sponsors include: Diamond -- Accenture, Aromasin, Duane Reade, JPMorgan Chase, and Time Warner Center; Media -- CBS 2, New York Post, New York's 106.7 fm and 1010 WINS; Platinum -- American Express, ANN TAYLOR and Key Food; and, Gold -- HIP Health Plan of New York, Tri-State Ford Dealers and the Jacob Fuchsberg Law Firm.
One in eight women in the US will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. That's over 200,000 people in 2007. More than 40,000 will die.

Monies raised from the Race will be used to fund education, screening and treatment programs for underserved women in the Greater New York City metropolitan area, as well as national and local research for the cures.
