The attorneys at Williams Kherkher launched a blog to discuss the Jones Act which is a federal statute that oversees injuries at sea.

Houston, TX (PRWEB) August 22, 2007 -- In reaction to the ongoing injuries that are occurring at sea and being suffered by workers on ships and docks around the United States, the law firm of Williams Kherkher has launched a blog centered on the federal statute that oversees such issues, the Jones Act. The blog's URL is http://maritimelawyers.wordpress.com/. The purpose of the blog is to provide the following information to its visitors:

1.   Analysis of the Jones Act and its applications;
2.   Updates to this statute and its overall development;
3.   The history of the Jones Act and how it has grown in scope;
4.   News stories relating to the Jones Act's applications in real-life situations.
5.   Ways to contact the Jones Act lawyers of Williams Kherkher.

Williams Kherkher is led by Attorneys John Eddie Williams and Steve Kherkerk, and has 26 attorneys and over 120 support staff on hand. The firm has represented victims of explosions since 1983.

The Jones Act has been in existence for decades, and its most recent wide-ranging passage occurred in Congress in 1970. The original form of the Jones Act was passed as the Merchant Marine Act in 1920, but was modernized and expanded in its reach in the latter legislative action. Its intended scope is to provide protection and uniform liability standards for sea workers who are injured on the job.

The economy of the United States has grown and changed with the times throughout history, but even with the advent of such things as the Internet, next-day-air shipping and the expansion of trucking as modes of delivery in the United States and the rest of the world, the American economy still depends on shipping as a main source of transportation and delivery of products. Williams Kherkher is a law firm in Houston with attorneys on staff who represent sea workers who were injured at sea.
