Tonya Banz, a former counterintelligence agent for the United States government and soldier with the U.S. Army, has declared W.A.R. on college and high school campuses across the nation. Her personal safety steps, Watch, Assess, React, are empowering students to take back their campuses.
I'm not saying the attack at Virginia Tech could have been prevented. I'm acknowledging it was a tragedy, but the bigger tragedy would be not learning from it.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) September 7, 2007 -- Tonya Banz, a former counterintelligence agent for the United States government and soldier with the U.S. Army, has declared W.A.R. on college and high school campuses across the nation. Her personal safety steps, Watch, Assess, React, are empowering students to take back their campuses. "I'm not saying the attack at Virginia Tech could have been prevented. I'm acknowledging it was a tragedy, but the bigger tragedy would be not learning from it."

Banz's Be VigilantTM program trains students to be aware of their surroundings. She's teaching people to replace fear and intimidation with confidence and power. Unlike traditional methods of training people in personal safety, Banz does not capitalize on the fear mentality violent crimes perpetuate. "I have been on the frontlines of the War on Terror, I know the threats are real, but our fear doesn't have to be. It is possible to respect the threats, but maintain the confidence and ability to respond to them from an empowered position."

Since the Virginia Tech attack, campus officials are scrambling to make their schools safer. The unfortunate reality is their options are limited. It is impossible to lock down a campus and law enforcement can't be everywhere at once. Luckily, Banz has an answer. "The only alternative is to train these populations to fend for themselves." And that's just what she's doing.

Banz's programs address one-on-one attacks (rapes, hate crimes, muggings, and assaults) and mass attacks (terrorist attacks and mass shootings) in schools and businesses. She provides cognitive tools that teach participants how to determine if a situation is dangerous and then to be able to leave before it becomes violent. She also provides physical tools that teach participants how to get out of a perilous situation once it becomes violent. And for those who have the mission of protecting our nation, Banz has partnered with the government's top-level protectors to provide advanced tactical training.

Banz travels the country empowering audiences with her unique approach to personal safety. Her mission is to make SafetyBanzTM a household concept and Be VigilantTM our nation's motto. Video clips are available at www.safetybanz.com.
