New Lotuspad Eco-Friendly Yoga Mat for Kids Eliminates Toxic PVC Material from Kids' Yoga Practices

While kids' yoga classes are rapidly gaining popularity nationwide, few parents understand the risks of PVC, one of the most common - and toxic - materials for kids' yoga mats. Lotuspad offers an alternative - the first eco luxury kids yoga mats and boutique yoga mat carry straps.

Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) September 14, 2007 -- Lotuspad, a new mom-founded kids' yoga products company, has just introduced a yoga mat for kids that unlike other kids' yoga mats, contains no PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) plastic or other harmful or allergenic materials.

Parents are increasingly educating themselves and their children on the importance of living a greener lifestyle and avoiding toxic toys, but many neglect the dangers of PVC, named one of the most hazardous consumer items ever created. PVC is considered so toxic that numerous governments and corporations such as Nike, Volvo and Ikea are now phasing out its use in their products.

According to Greenpeace, The Center for Health, Environment and Justice, and many other respected organizations, PVC is dangerous to human health and the environment during every phase of its lifecycle and never biodegrades, meaning yoga mats made from PVC will still be around in a thousand years.

Lotuspad yoga mats are crafted from TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer), a newly developed and patented material that is quickly becoming the most popular environmentally conscious choice for yoga mats. In addition to being non-toxic, hypo allergenic, and biodegradable, TPE is also attractive - with an elegant dual-colored and patterned surface.

Lotuspad offers two mat styles for children, a thick (5mm) 48" mat for toddlers and children up to about age 7, and a standard (3mm) 66" mat for ages 8-9 and up. In addition to yoga mats, Lotuspad offers a line of stylish yoga mat carry straps sized for children - the only such yoga accessories for kids available anywhere.
