Inexpensive Mental Health Software Adds Electronic Claims Processing

Download this press release as an Adobe PDF document.

CTIS is an electronic clinical records software package for Mental/Behavioral Healthcare providers which is more affordable than its competitors at $5-20K, depending on the number of users. Following its original release in May, 2008, CTIS is now available with an electronic billing option for insurance claims processing. Patient charges are generated automatically by the staff's documentation activities. In the face of reduced Medicare reimbursements and a difficult economy, CTIS offers Mental Health providers an affordable solution for better efficiency and compliance.

Houston, TX (PRWEB) July 28, 2008 -- Convergent Therapy Information System (CTIS) is a web browser-based electronic clinical records package for Mental/Behavioral Health (MBH) therapists, first introduced on May 15, 2008. CTIS has now added electronic insurance claims capability for reimbursement from Medicare and other payers. Paul Graff, Director of Product Development for Eulogix, stated recently, "The addition of claims processing to CTIS provides the key functionality often requested by prospective customers who are looking for behavioral health-specific electronic records together with electronic claims reimbursement, all at a price they can afford."

The addition of claims processing to CTIS provides the key functionality often requested by prospective customers who are looking for behavioral health-specific electronic records together with electronic claims reimbursement, all at a price they can afford.
Faced with historical limits on private insurance reimbursements and Medicare paying 28% less than two years ago, many MBH organizations need an inexpensive way to improve HIPAA compliance, operating efficiency, and hasten insurance reimbursements without spending $80,000 or more on typical MBH software. CTIS software was developed over a period of three years, with the experience gained from working with three MBH organizations in Houston, including The Menninger Clinic.

A mental health therapist can spend up to 50% of their day on paperwork, reducing the amount and quality of time spent with patients. Documentation errors and inconsistencies can delay insurance reimbursements. CTIS presents users with "intelligent" electronic versions of familiar paper forms. Redundant data is automatically shared among forms and data entry employs drop-down lists and checkboxes wherever possible to speed entry, standardize values, and reduce errors. Patient diagnoses (DSM-IV codes) and common medications can be referenced from included databases. Two critical and time consuming functions, the Master Treatment Plan (MTP) and Group Therapy Notes, have been given special attention by CTIS software designers, because they offered the most potential for time savings to therapists.

With the ability of CTIS to document most aspects of Behavioral In-Patient, Out-Patient, and Partial Hospitalization (PHP) programs, the addition of electronic insurance claims processing gives the software the functionality for managing the most important aspects of a mental health provider's business. CTIS represents an important breakthrough for smaller Behavioral Health organizations, with its ability to provide technology and key operability at sensible price.
