International Students Learn English Online With New Internet English Club

Effortless English announces the launch of a new online English club. Building on their mp3 English lessons, Effortless English has created an online community for international students. Students compare notes on lessons, ask questions, make friends, and chat online with each other, using the club's new community forum.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 31, 2008 -- Wat Khawjunkong, a Thai immigrant, sits in front of a laptop, speaking English into a headset. He listens. Occasionally, he scribbles something in a blue notebook while sipping coffee.

Wat used to attend traditional English classes, sitting quietly at a desk in a room full of students. Now his classmates are online.

Before joining Effortless English, my English speaking was terrible. I was embarrassed. I didn't think I could ever speak English well. Now I'm learning fast. I feel relaxed when I speak and I love speaking English. I'm making friends in countries all over the world.
He is one of many English students who are using The Effortless English Club, an English learning service that combines mp3 English lessons with an online community.

Wat says, "I used to go to a regular English class, but it was so boring. I joined The Effortless English Club 4 months ago, downloaded the lessons, and put them on my iPod. Then I joined the community. My classmates are all over the world now."

Convenience is one of the benefits most often cited by members of the club. Online English lessons, usually in an mp3 format, provide tremendous flexibility to busy students, as does a learning community forum that is open 24 hours a day.

A.J. Hoge, the founder of The Effortless English Club, notes, "Our students are busy. Many don't have time to attend a regular English class. They work overtime. They have families. With our club, they can study anytime. There is no fixed schedule."

The Club's online classes, however, are not simply copies of traditional ESL schools. The Effortless English Club, for example, uses a unique "listen-first" learning method. International students learn English conversation through listening. The entire focus is on developing superior listening skills. Speech emerges naturally and automatically as listening skills improve.

Hoge says, "There is a great deal of language acquisition research that supports a listen-first approach. Traditional methods of grammar analysis and forced speech are far less effective. Our method is on the cutting edge of the research."

When ready, students chat online with each other, using the free voice over internet service Skype. Students also communicate in writing through the club's new community forums.

Members of The Effortless English Club are enjoying the community. Atsuko Imai, of Japan, says, "Before joining Effortless English, my English speaking was terrible. I was embarrassed. I didn't think I could ever speak English well. Now I'm learning fast. I feel relaxed when I speak and I love speaking English. I'm making friends in countries all over the world."
