Lenexa, KS (PRWEB) August 17, 2008 -- Janice Wells, an area-rug consultant known throughout the Kansas City metro as "The Rug Goddess", has launched a new web site: www.ruggoddess.com. The site is designed to promote her in-home services as well as educate people on the different styles, colors, types and manufacturing processes of area rugs and custom carpets.

"Most homeowners need professional help when selecting an area rug or coordinating several rugs within a space," explains the Rug Goddess, who has been operating her home-based business for almost three years. "There are so many manufacturers in today's marketplace offering numerous types, styles, shapes, sizes and designs that people often get lost or don't know where to begin. My site is an educational tool highlighting these differences, including types of rugs made from hand-knotted, hand-tufted and machine-made area rugs to the types of wool being used to make each product."

The craftsmanship that goes into some of the area rugs is simply amazing and very time consuming. That is why there's such a big difference from area rug to area rug. If you don't know what you're buying, you're probably paying way too much for your rug.
With 17 years in the design business, nine of which specialized in area rugs, the Rug Goddess needs her customers to understand the actual steps in the manufacturing process. "In some cases it takes longer to make a hand-knotted area rug than it does to build your typical house," she says. "The craftsmanship that goes into some of the area rugs is simply amazing and very time consuming. That is why there's such a big difference from area rug to area rug. If you don't know what you're buying, you're probably paying way too much for your rug."

To assist clients with their purchases, the Rug Goddess offers in-home consultations. By actually visiting a client's home she can identify that person's particular style and taste. Janice uses a set of color palms with nearly 400 samples of colored wool, the same wool often used in manufacturing a customized rug. By using these color palms, she can match the color of the existing furniture, walls or room art into the area rug design. The final outcome is an interior with a harmonious feel.

For more information, visit www.ruggoddess.com or call 913-481-4577 to schedule a consultation with the "Rug Goddess".
