The rankings were determined according to companies' percentage revenue growth from 2004 through 2007. Additionally, qualifying companies had to be based in the U.S., privately held, independent and have had minimum revenues of $200,000 in 2004 and $2 million in 2007. Small and large companies making this year's hot list, posted online at http://www.inc.com/5000, have also been praised for driving the U.S. economy even in spite of the current recession.
