Autonomic Controls Releases Media Control Server 2.0, an Elegant Alternative to the iPod Dock for Custom Electronics Integrators

CEDIA. Autonomic Controls Media Control Server 2 suports integration of purchased iTunes songs, Media Center, and XM Radio on AMX, Crestron, and RTI remote controls.

Denver, CO (PRWEB) September 3, 2008 -- CEDIA. Autonomic Controls, the leading provider of custom integration solutions for Microsoft Media Center has released Media Control Server 2.0. The new product adds iTunes integration, support for purchased music, multi-source audio output, BluRay playback and stylish new touch panel interfaces.

Two years after its release, Autonomic Controls Media Control Server has become the industry standard solution for integration of Windows Media Center in the custom installation channel. With version 2.0, the company seeks to expand its influence by providing integrators with a proper solution for integrating media from the most popular music service in the world, iTunes.

Digital Rights Management or "DRM" has posed considerable challenges to A/V professionals whose customers are increasingly consuming digital media. iPod docks are popular in the industry because they allow for the integration of purchased iTunes, but it's far from ideal. Their portable nature (when the iPod leaves home, so do the tunes), limited storage, higher compression, and inferior audio quality make it an awkward fit in an expensive custom installation.

MCS 2.0 provides a more elegant solution by allowing touch panel and keypad media consumption directly from iTunes and Media Center, bypassing the need for an iPod dock entirely. The music can be directly played back by media servers more appropriate to an audiophile quality installation. The solution creates a highly satisfying experience to homeowners who can enjoy music on their systems just moments after downloading it from iTunes. No manual file transfers, missing iPods or protected media hassles.

Autonomic Controls PolyTune™ technology allows integrators to configure PC Media Servers to output multiple streams of audio. A 7.1 sound card becomes a four source iTunes / WMA media server. Additional sound cards can be added to support more streams if desired.

For customers who have a mixed Windows Media and iTunes collection, MCS combines them into a single collection for browsing on touch panels and key-pads.

Using Windows Media Center with MCS, other types of media can be controlled and browsed remotely, including Blu-Ray and DVD movies using ArcSoft Total Media Theater, recorded-TV, videos and photos.

Mirage, Autonomic Controls' graphical user interface for Media Control Server has been redesigned for version 2.0. MCS is available on AMX, Crestron, and RTI touch panels, NuVo keypads, tablet PC's and web browsers. Integrators can also create their own interfaces using the published protocol documentation.

Autonomic Controls will be demonstrating Media Control Server on AMX, Crestron, RTI, NuVo, and HAI equipment at CEDIA this week in booth #699.

Autonomic Controls publishes digital media control solutions for integrators and manufacturers. Their flagship product, Media Control Server, has become the industry standard for providing two way control of Windows Media Center. Their technologies have been sub-licensed in products manufactured by NuVo, HAI, and Universal Remote Control. Autonomic Controls is located in Armonk, NY.
