Hydronika Selection a Natural Fit for Leed Green HVAC site

Shelbyville, KY (PRWEB) September 5, 2008 -- Fort Baker Green HVAC installation was engineered by WSG Flack & Kurtz in San Francisco and sold by Hydronic Specialties in Oakland. Hydronika® factory personnel performed the start-up on the Hydronika chiller-boiler unit.

Fort Baker is one of the most famous components of California's Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The Fort, which borders the City of Sausalito in Marin County and is connected to San Francisco by the Golden Gate Bridge, served as an Army post until the mid-1990s, when the headquarters of the 91st Division moved to Parks Reserve Forces Training Area.

Classified as an historic district on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, Fort Baker features essentially-intact historic structures and landscapes, and is currently under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service. Reuse is in full swing, and the rapidly declining condition of the buildings has been stopped with the retrofit, renovation and reopening of all the original buildings as Cavallo Point Lodge. The property is undergoing LEED accreditation for its eco practices in reuse and green build, with a goal of securing a Gold rating. It exists as a think tank conference center, with an Institute at the Golden Gate, working towards partnerships with environmentally minded and altruistic groups, rededicating Fort Baker as an eco-venue for the GGNRA, Conservancy, and Bay Area at large. A Hydronika® chiller boiler was selected as the heart of the hydronic heating and cooling system delivering chillers, boilers, pumps and controls in a single package.

Hydronika systems, using hot and cold fluid, are inherently more efficient than traditional forced-air systems and the basis of design for green building systems. The company simplifies installation by delivering a factory assembled and pre-tested system using a rugged design that delivers more than it promises.
