Scott Downey is the new owner of JAXQuickfit Tyres at Artarmon, on Sydney's lower north shore, but his background as a mechanic includes years of experience in the service arena for some of Australia's leading car dealerships and companies, including Porsche Sydney.

There's also the fact that people talk to other people. If they get good service, they will talk about it -- but they will talk about it even more if they get bad service and I'm determined they won't be talking that way about this business.

Scott Downey is the new owner of JAXQuickfit Tyres at Artarmon, on Sydney's lower north shore, but his background as a mechanic includes years of experience in the service arena for some of Australia's leading car dealerships and companies, including Porsche Sydney.

"Porsche is a phenomenal product and I really wouldn't want to work for another car company after three very happy years with them," Scott says.

"But I did want the challenge of running my own show and when this opportunity came up with JAXQuickfit Tyre's, it was just too good to ignore."

Scott says he's amazed by the attitude some people have to their customers and is positive he will never make the same mistake.

"Some people expect business will just walk through the door once they are up and operating, but it is never that easy.

"If someone rings me for a price, I know they have probably spoken to five other people in this industry, so I know I have to offer competitive prices and really good service to get their business.

"There's also the fact that people talk to other people. If they get good service, they will talk about it -- but they will talk about it even more if they get bad service and I'm determined they won't be talking that way about this business."

Scott's experience with Porsche, Honda, Peugeot, Land Rover and the Trivett Classic group shows in the attention to detail at JAXQuickfit Tyres at Artarmon.

"We pride ourselves on having an immaculate workshop with state-of-the-art equipment and we pride ourselves on offering our customers the sort of service that is beyond their expectations.

"They will find themselves in the hands of people who are all highly experienced with wheels, tyres and servicing, especially Costas Lagos who is my manager.

"His expertise in the industry is amazing and I'm still trying to soak up all that he knows," Scott says with a laugh.

Aside from honing his professional skills and attitudes during business hours, Scott has been involved in top level motorsport, working in pit lane alongside drivers such as multiple Bathurst 1000 and Targa Tasmania winner, Jim Richards.

Those experiences have served to emphasise, even more, the importance of attention to detail and getting things right first time - and Scott's customers are the winners as a result.
