The Festival kicks off on Friday, November 28 with a free concert in front of the Parroquia and continues throughout the week featuring an international line-up of Grammy-award winning artists.
This year's performers include drummer Antonio Sanchez from the Pat Metheny Group, pianist Don Grusin, saxophone titan David Sanchez, Brazilian singer/guitarist Oscar Castro-Neves, and Texas blues diva Marcia Ball. Vocalists Iraida Noriega and Betsy Pecanins are each making encore Festival appearances as well. Meet the Artists Events
Coates/Dolan will be hosting two "Meet the Artists" events at their newest private community, Vista Antigua, overlooking the historic town center. Guests will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with the Festival artists on Sunday, November 30th from 11:30 - 2:00pm at a Champagne Jazz Brunch and a pre-concert Cocktail Reception on Wednesday, December 3rd from 5:00 to 7:00pm. Tickets are available at the Vista Antigua Sales Office for $150 pesos for the brunch and $100 pesos for the cocktail reception. Ticket reservations are accepted online at VistaAntigua.com/jazz.
Festival Background
The San Miguel International Jazz Festival was founded fourteen years ago by expat resident Elena Shoemaker. In 2006 it was taken over by bassist and teacher Antonio Lozoya and his wife Tere Urtusástegui, who expanded the lineup to include blues. Doug and Glenda Robinson came on board as Festival producers in 2007.
