GPS Fleet Management, a leading provider of GPS-based fleet management and consulting services, announced today that they were informed by Ace Asphalt of Arizona that the system installed by GPS Fleet Management, is on line to save Ace Asphalt at least $150,000 in reduced fuel costs in its first year of service.
Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) November 13, 2008 -- GPS Fleet Management, a leading provider of GPS-based fleet management and consulting services, announced today that they were informed by Ace Asphalt's Chief Information Officer, Darin Soll, the system installed by GPS Fleet Management, is on line to save Ace Asphalt at least $150,000 in reduced fuel costs in its first year of service. "We have cut unnecessary idling by 50% percent already," Darin Soll reports.
Phoenix based Ace Asphalt, among the largest parking lot and maintenance companies in the United States and the largest in Arizona, has just completed a fleet wide installation of a Global Positioning Satellite system in each of its 283 motorized assets, including its large pieces of construction machinery -- including backhoes, scrapers, and those 9-wheeler paving equipment units.
"What prompted us to go with a GPS system was the estimated fuel savings as well as the ability to locate our equipment at any given time," Soll adds. "There are many enforcement aspects about GPS, but the opportunity to save fuel by reducing idle time--especially when diesel fuel was hitting $4.75 a gallon--was the deciding factor. The 'Ignition On, Ignition Off' feature is our flag to know if a specific vehicle is running or not. And, if it idles for more than a few minutes, the system automatically generates an exception that notifies us by email and text message so we can quickly address it," Soll says. "Cutting idle time by a significant percentage--and saving fuel in the process--will pay for the system, just in its fuel saving feature alone. Those reduced emissions also show that we are 'Green'--doing our part to help the environment." he reports.
Other GPS system features include the ability to track the company's fleet in terms of location, vehicle speed, and maintenance schedule. On those assets that have either a J plug or an ODBII plug for the engine computer, the device will email the customer anytime an engine fault is detected helping them to save money on costly repairs by being proactive before the problem grows worse.
