St. Louis-based large and grand format printer Commerce Color prints wall graphics for Milliken's NeoCon® 2008 showroom.
St Louis, MO (PRWEB) November 20, 2008 -- Commerce Color, a large and grand format digital printer based in St. Louis, Missouri, printed all of the custom designed wallpaper graphics for Milliken Floor Covering's NeoCon® 2008 showroom.
Q Studio, an architectural firm based in Chicago, was the designer for the project. This is the second year that Q Studio has selected Commerce Color to work on the Milliken showroom.
The showroom was completely revamped this year for NeoCon®, with Milliken introducing all new products. NeoCon® is the most significant U.S. trade show for the contract architecture and interior design industries and is held annually at the Merchandise Mart.
The pressure sensitive wallcoverings for the showroom depicts Milliken's new carpet products. "This year we pushed the design a little bit," says Catherine Severson, Principal at Q Studio. "We played with the scale, exaggerated the color…it was not such a literal translation of the carpet. Commerce Color was great at getting strike-offs to us in advance of the final print, so that we could see how the design was translating."
Last year, artwork for the custom wall murals was produced by Milliken's in-house design group. Says Severson, "We went through a learning curve figuring out how to translate Milliken's electronic files--which were designed to be printed on carpet--to be accurate for vinyl wall murals. This year, they used an outside graphic design firm and the process was a little easier. Still, Baker Company, the design firm on the project, is designing in terms of large-scale graphics. Commerce Color was extremely good at translating those large-scale graphics into custom digital wallpaper. They were very helpful in explaining how to minimize waste, make sure the repeats matched up, etc. They were amazing and so patient."
