Montreal, QC (PRWEB) November 20, 2008 -- Consumers planning a trip to Montreal using a VIP or travel service are not always aware of the industry regulations of the products and services they wish to purchase. Choosing companies wisely will prevent being taken advantage of for a quick buck. Avoid being a victim of fraud or manipulation by paying attention to: artificial value, self-created marketing hype, misinformation, deceitful websites, licenses, & legally required permits.
A guide on how to choose a company, Part 2:
Planning a Montreal trip?
Planning a Montreal Bachelor Party?
Planning on hiring a Montreal VIP company?
Coming down for New Year's Eve in Montreal?
As a consumer, we usually do not know the industry regulations of the products and services we wish to purchase. There are companies that take advantage of the lack of consumer awareness, and attempt to dupe their clients for a quick buck.
We are in an age where starting a company has never been easier. To some, it's as simple as starting a website, before ever registering a company name with local government. To others, they may use the internet to misrepresent facts and affiliations, and even operate illegally.
Montreal has become a great destination for bachelor parties (http://www.montrealnitelifetours.com/packages/main/montreal-bachelor-party/), new years, and Montreal trips of all kinds.
A few things you should know, in choosing companies wisely.
1. 'The Boiler Room" Online Sales Approach 2
If you haven't already, watch this movie about sales. One of their best lines:
- "You can write whatever you want to write on a website."
Companies can try to assume presence and write whatever they want on their website to make it look like they are the best at what they do, by using words like "best" and "official", to impress you and make you believe their artificial value. Make sure that what they write is realistic, credible, and relevant.
- Don't believe self-created marketing hype.
All the information the company claims should be independently verifiable for it to matter.
2. The Special Event: A Planner's Cash Cow, how they can overcharge and misinform
Potential Clients will believe almost anything because of the high demand and the limited # of supply of hotel rooms, tickets, seats available for special events like the Montreal Grand Prix or Montreal New Years.
- Dishonest planners capitalize on this by not being forthright about all the options available to clients, and concentrate more on how much quick and easy money they can make.
Events like the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Montreal and New Years Eve in Montreal (http://www.montrealnitelifetours.com/packages/main/montreal-new-years-eve-party/) are great examples. I.E.: 4 different bar hop parties exist for Dec 30, and some planners do not advise which of the 4 is "included" in the clients' package, leaving disappointed customers wondering why they aren't going to certain of Montreal's best clubs.
3. Hotel Managers - BEWARE !
- Beware of companies that include your property in their bank of hotels.
From one day to the next, government officials may knock on the doors of companies that offer travel services such as hotel and transportation, to inquire about operating a travel agency without the necessary permits. If they are not licensed, they will be fined, and ultimately shut down. You would not want a bad account with a company forced to close or that goes bankrupt because of fines and court fees!
Also imagine the ramifications for clients who have given such companies thousands of dollars in deposits, only to lose it if that company gets shut down.
Never book travel arrangements with a company that is not licensed!
4. Websites - may be pleasing to the eye, but may have deceitful business models.
Never assume that a nice looking website means there is a credible company behind it. You may be giving them thousands of dollars, so make sure you do your homework!
