Hanson, MA (PRWEB) November 21, 2008 -- Litecontrol, a leader in quality architectural Sustainable Lighting systems, is proud to have maintained the highest sustainability standards since the company's inception in 1936. With their two factories located amidst the cranberry bogs and neighborhoods of the South Shore of Massachusetts, Litecontrol has always been aware of their environmental responsibility. In 1966, Litecontrol started a manufacturing program that encouraged the recycling of all excess steel and aluminum. To this day, Litecontrol seeks out new, more efficient ways to preserve the environment with Sustainable Lighting.

In 2008, Litecontrol introduced the Radi-X fixture with the exclusive LiteCycle resin baffle which is comprised of 45% post-industrial and 5% post-consumer recycled material. Litecontrol's focus on Sustainable Lighting and continuous improvement processes earned them the prestigious Cradle to CradleCM Silver Certification in 2008 for all the products manufactured in their factories, and they anticipate renewing their Cradle to Cradle certification for 2009. Also in 2008, Litecontrol's design team re-designed the popular Wall Slot 2000 fixture to use 20% less steel for the plenum cover assembly and 56% less aluminum for the wall rail, drastically reducing the amount of raw material used to manufacture these fixtures.

As part of the renewal process, Litecontrol has committed to investigating the use of Renewable Energy in their factories. For 2008 and 2009, this has been implemented through the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates from Constellation NewEnergy. Other possibilities are being explored for more extensive use of Renewable Energy at both of Litecontrol's factories. Litecontrol is a company dedicated to creating effective visual environments while preserving the natural environment.
