Cablevision Adds Popular HD Channels From NBC Universal To iO TV® High-Definition Lineup

iO TV Now Offering Customers 68 HD Channels Of Free HD Including Bravo HD, CNBC HD+, SCI FI HD and USA HD

Bethpage, NY (PRWEB) December 2, 2008 -- Cablevision Systems Corp. (NYSE: CVC) today announced the addition of four popular high-definition channels from NBC Universal to the iO TV digital cable lineup, which now offers customers access to 68 channels of free HD. The new channels - Bravo HD, CNBC HD+, SCI FI HD and USA HD - feature a compelling mix of business news, groundbreaking original series, reality programming and sports, and will become available to customers across Cablevision's service area over a four-day period that begins today.

With 68 channels, Cablevision's high-definition programming line-up has more than tripled since the beginning of 2007, supporting the increasing demand for programming in this superior format among an HD customer base that has grown by 50 percent over the last year, to more than 1.3 million iO TV customers with at least one high-definition television and HD-enabled set-top box in the home today.

  • Bravo HD (iO TV channel 745) offers Bravo's critically acclaimed arts and entertainment programming devoted to the food, fashion, design, beauty and pop culture genres including critically acclaimed series "Top Chef 5," "Top Design 2," Shear Genius 2," "Tim Gunn's Guide to Style 2" and "The Real Housewives of New York City 2."
  • CNBC HD+ (channel 771) has become the essential service for the investor, providing all the elements of CNBC with greater levels of information equipping the viewer with more tools necessary to make investment decisions.
  • SCI FI HD (channel 748) continues to fuel the imagination of viewers with original series and events, blockbuster movies, and classic science fiction and fantasy programming including "Sanctuary," "Stargate Atlantis," "Battlestar Galactica," "Ghost Hunters" and "Eureka."
  • USA HD (channel 738) is the #1-rated television network in all of basic cable for the past three years. USA offers hit original series and feature movies, sports and entertainment events, off-net television shows and blockbuster theatrical films. Hit original series include: Emmy-winning "Monk;" Friday night comedy "Psych; #1-rated cable show of summer, "Burn Notice;" the #1-rated new show of the summer "In Plain Sight;" and the Emmy-winning series "The Starter Wife."

With more than 2.8 million iO TV customers, 90 percent of Cablevision's cable customers are iO TV digital cable customers, the highest digital penetration in the nation. iO TV offers customers access to up to 390 channels, including 53 premium movie channels, 48 channels of commercial-free digital music, more than 4,000 titles available on demand at all times, an interactive programming guide, 68 high-definition programming services and uniquely valuable and relevant interactive television applications including News 12 Interactive. A high-definition cable box and HD-ready television set are required to view high-definition programming.
