But when pundits announced the "true" start of the new millennium was actually 2001, the event was held a second time due to popular demand - and sold out again. And it's been going strong ever since.

The Millennium X Golf Classic, set for January 9-11, began in 2000 with a sell-out field ringing in the new millennium. But when pundits announced the "true" start of the new millennium was actually 2001, the event was held a second time due to popular demand - and sold out again. And it's been going strong ever since.
There seems to be some good weather karma going on, too, according to Glen Byrnes, Golden Horseshoe's host professional and director of golf. "Even though the event is always early in January, the golfers have played more times in shorts than we have in snow," Byrnes says.
The 36-hole classic features a two-person format, better ball and captain's choice. Saturday's format will be captain's choice while Sunday's will be four ball (two person, best ball). Handicaps will be used to determine Saturday's pairings. Flights will be determined by Saturday's scores
The entry fee of $410 per team includes tournament rounds and carts, practice rounds (pay cart fees only), practice balls prior to tournament rounds, tee gift, continental breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday, Saturday evening buffet dinner and awards presentation.
