Small Businesses Gain Control in Unstable Economy

GPS fleet tracking company expands into Texas to help companies control costs and increase productivity, helping businesses gain control in an unstable economy.

Houston, TX (Vocus) December 3, 2008 -- To survive in the current economic climate, many small businesses seek innovative ways to cut costs without negatively affecting productivity. Companies with vehicle fleets have found GPS vehicle tracking a useful tool to both lower fleet costs and increase productivity of mobile employees.

FleetMatics, a leader in GPS vehicle tracking technology, recently expanded its operations in Texas to better serve the tracking needs of regional businesses. Small businesses have applauded the move and have already experienced positive results by using the system.

Nobody would imagine running a fleet without cell phones for drivers. Once they have GPS tracking installed, fleet owners quickly adopt the same attitude toward this technology because of the huge positive impact it has on business.
“GPS vehicle tracking has made it much easier for us to manage costs right now,” said Kevin Hokett, Owner of American Safety & American Production Services in Odessa, Texas. The oilfield safety and production company utilizes the FleetMatics GPS solution in their 187 vehicles.

“We’ve been able to reduce fuel usage and help our technicians work efficiently out in the field,” added Duralia. “The savings allow us to more effectively weather the current economic downturn.”

GPS fleet tracking works by placing a module in each vehicle that uses satellites to monitor vehicle location. The GPS modules can also transmit important vehicle information like speed, idle times, and engine start up and shut down. The FleetMatics GPS solution compiles this information into management reports that business owners can use to encourage fuel efficient driving habits and employee accountability while in the field.

“We see GPS vehicle tracking as becoming as prevalent as cell phones for businesses with mobile assets,” said John Goggin, FleetMatics Global Vice President of Sales. “Nobody would imagine running a fleet without cell phones for drivers. Once they have GPS tracking installed, fleet owners quickly adopt the same attitude toward this technology because of the huge positive impact it has on business.”
