With soaring petrol prices and concern over the environment, Blackcircles urges UK motorists to become eco-drivers and take a few simple steps which will help reduce both their emissions and their fuel bills.

UK (PRWEB) February 15, 2008 -- Online tyres specialist Blackcircles is urging motorists to become 'eco-drivers' in a bid to tackle soaring petrol prices.

With rising fuel costs and concern over climate change, there has never been a better time for motorists to think about minimising the impact of fossil fuels on the environment.

With crude oil prices rising and the cost of petrol at the pump following, it is essential that motorists do everything they can to improve fuel economy.
Blackcircles is advising motorists that the simplest measures can help cut fuel costs while reducing driving emissions and ensuring driver and passenger safety.

Keeping tyres inflated to the correct level has been shown to cut up to 10% of petrol costs while failing to ensure tyre pressures are at the correct levels will wear out tyres faster, use more petrol and create more emissions.

Blackcircles Managing Director Mike Welch said: "With crude oil prices rising and the cost of petrol at the pump following, it is essential that motorists do everything they can to improve fuel economy. "

Across the UK, drivers are wasting hundreds of millions of pounds on fuel, simply by failing to drive with their tyres at the right pressure. In addition, this reduces the life of the tyre by an estimated 15%.

Driving with tyres that are three psi (pounds per square inch) below the correct pressure decreases fuel economy by one per cent.

Between increased greenhouse gas emissions and scrapping more tyres more often, it is inevitable that a substantial impact is being made on the environment.

By becoming an eco-driver motorists can improve fuel economy, reduce emissions and be safer on the roads.
