United Kingdom (PRWEB) February 21, 2008 -- The BPA's 'Know Your Numbers' week last September saw over 250,000 people volunteering to have their blood pressure checked, revealing the shocking results.
High blood pressure hot spots include Yorkshire and Humberside, and the West Midlands, both with 45% of those tested suffering from hypertension.

High blood pressure is a serious health condition. Uncontrolled high blood pressure is the biggest cause of death and disability through the strokes and heart attacks it causes. But this is preventable.
"We urge everyone to make it their New Year's resolution to have a blood pressure check and lead a healthier lifestyle to lower their numbers. Looking after your blood pressure is one of the most important things you can do to improve your current and future health," continues Dr. Mead.

As 2008 gets underway, preparations for the Beijing Olympics are making rapid progress. First aid policy and procedures have been made a top priority, and a Chinese/English first aid guidance brochure has been issued. It is hoped that it will benefit foreign tourists and athletes who may encounter health problems during the August Games.

Containing a map of first aid centers and hospitals in the vicinity, it also translates a number of medical terms and conditions that people may be unfortunate enough to encounter. The brochure can also double-up as an SOS sign because of its bright red cover making it highly visible. Several other language versions are also to be released in the run up to the Games.
The city expects to welcome more than 500,000 visitors from overseas during the games, with the largest daily visitor-inflow estimated at 300,000.

The First Aid Warehouse specializes in the supply of first aid and diagnostic equipment to both the public and trade. They offer an extensive range of first aid products and first aid kits including standard workplace kits, travel kits, sports kits, outdoor pursuits kits and Burnshield burns kits. The range has been extended further for 2008. With a wealth of industry knowledge, their online e-commerce platform provides a safe and secure environment to purchase from.
