Norway, Iowa, (Vocus/PRWeb) February 13, 2008 -- Frontier Natural Products Co-op™ has issued an invitation to explore a flavorful and exotic world of pepper beyond the everyday shaker with the introduction of an 11-item line of gourmet peppers. The botanicals in the Gourmet Pepper line are sourced from six different countries on three continents, chosen for their vivid and exotic flavors. Most items and ingredients are organic, although certified organic sources are not available for all.

but we went even beyond that and worked with our suppliers to be able to offer several peppers that were not widely-available until now.
The peppers fall into three categories: gourmet versions of the traditional pepper species Piper nigrum, exotic species used as variations and substitutions for traditional pepper and two pepper blends that are only available from Frontier.

Frontier's seasonings brand manager, Brett Karminski, says the company drew on its knowledge of spices and seasonings and extensive supplier contacts in developing the line. "We've learned a great deal in our 30 years of sourcing the highest quality herbs and spices from around the globe," said Karminski, "but we went even beyond that and worked with our suppliers to be able to offer several peppers that were not widely-available until now."

Frontier is the first national brand to offer Smoked Black Peppercorns, and the line has two blends unique to Frontier as well -- Smoked Peppercorn Blend and Exotic Peppercorn Blend.

Other Piper nigrum peppercorns besides the Smoked Black (the most popular spice in the world) are Tellicherry Black, the highest grade of organic black peppercorns available; Ceylon White, fully ripe pepper berries with the outer hulls removed to leave the white inner core; and Green, which are picked long before they mature to provide a pleasantly fresh, herbaceous flavor.

The exotic species are Brazilian Pink Peppercorns, delightfully spicy-sweet with nuances of citrus; Long Pepper, a traditional seasoning with a pungent, slightly sweet, fiery flavor; Cubeb Pepper, a dry, sharp flavoring that has overtones of pine; Sichuan Pepper, known for its warm and lemon-like flavor; and Grains of Paradise, which offers a warm, spicy bite with sharp overtones reminiscent of cardamom and coriander.

The peppers are packaged with the person of discriminating taste in mind, with a built-in and easily adjustable grinder to deliver fresh taste and the preferred coarseness of grind at each serving.
