We are pleased to be able to offer native support for ZRM on the Solaris platform at a time when MySQL will have even greater exposure to the Solaris market
"We are pleased to be able to offer native support for ZRM on the Solaris platform at a time when MySQL will have even greater exposure to the Solaris market," said Chander Kant, Zmanda CEO. "ZRM is the only comprehensive hot backup and recovery solution for MySQL and MySQL Clusters. We are committed to providing data protection functionalities to enable MySQL customers to take on mission-critical, high-volume transaction processing challenges with confidence."

An open source solution, ZRM for MySQL is enterprise-class backup and recovery software designed to help MySQL DBAs prevent the serious damage caused by data loss in the event of human errors and system or database failure. ZRM is designed specifically for MySQL databases and includes unique, enterprise-grade features such as MySQL storage engine intelligence and granular point-in-time recovery. The Enterprise Edition of ZRM comes with the Zmanda Management Console -- a powerful Web-based graphical user interface that let DBAs control backup and recovery across all MySQL servers from a central Web console.

A key new feature in ZRM for MySQL 2.1 is native support for the Solaris 10 operating system. Now, MySQL DBAs can backup all MySQL servers running on Windows, Linux, Solaris, and Mac OS X from Solaris or Linux platforms.

ZRM 2.1 also features a comprehensive plug-in architecture for leading snapshot technologies, including Linux LVM, Windows VSS snapshot, Network Appliance SnapManager, Veritas VxFS and Solaris ZFS. These new snapshot functionalities enable ZRM to provide the fastest possible backup of live MySQL databases with no application downtime.

In addition, ZRM 2.1 offers enhanced unified global backup management capabilities specifically designed for geographically dispersed MySQL databases. Customers can more effectively backup multiple MySQL databases spread throughout their enterprise from a single backup server, controlled by the intuitive Zmanda Management Console.

More information about ZRM for MySQL version 2.1 can be found on the Zmanda Web site at http://www.zmanda.com/zrm-mysql-enterprise.html.
