Nokia's Mobile Rules jury has evaluated the SoundOfMotion's technology as being among the best in Mobile Rules! '08 Technology Innovation Competition. SoundOfMotion is a creator of the first bicycle computer for mobile devices and an innovative Bluetooth wheel sensor which is hundreds times more accurate than traditional cycling computer sensors. Many cyclists carry their cell phones as a dead weight while riding a bicycle. SoundOfMotion puts their phones to use as a cycling computer.

Unlike traditional cycling sensors, which count wheel rotations to calculate speed and distance, SoundOfMotion's innovative Bluetooth wireless motion sensor measures a magnetic field created by a pair of magnets mounted on spokes. It is capable of detecting as little as one degree of wheel rotation. This unique sensing technology accurately detects spot speed and acceleration with a refresh rate of up to ten times per second.

The bicycle computer includes a Java Verified™ application for mobile devices. The application offers features such as spot speed, acceleration, time and distance, maximum, average and differential speed and odometer. Some additional features not typically found in traditional cycling computers are: large color display, travel data recording and VeloTones™. VeloTones™, like ringtones, are MP3 sound themes which allow cyclists to determine their speed and acceleration without the need to look at the display.

VeloTones™ can also be used as an audible warning for pedestrians and drivers. On average, 750 bicycling fatalities and 50,000 injuries happen in the US yearly, mainly during the daytime. Cars and pedestrians often collide with cyclists because they just can't hear an approaching bicycle. Imagine, if your bicycle could sound like a motorcycle, or a horse, or even a steam train? This unique sound simulation technology for mobile devices coupled, with a portable mini-amplifier, can generate sounds of up to 70dB or as loud as a vacuum cleaner.
