Design Clinicals Announces New Iowa Client

Myrtue Medical Center is installing MedsTracker, medication reconciliation software.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) March 23, 2008 -- Design Clinicals, Inc., a provider of advanced medication reconciliation and patient safety systems, announced today that Myrtue Medical Center, located in Harlan, IA is implementing the company's MedsTracker software. Myrtue Medical Center is a rural, integrated healthcare delivery system that incorporates the Harlan, Avoca, Shelby and Elk Horn Medical Clinics, as well as a behavioral health center. MedsTracker enables hospitals like Myrtue to improve medication management for patients and exceed The Joint Commission's (TJC) National Patient Safety Goals for medication reconciliation.

"Over the past three years, Myrtue Medical Center has been recognized for leadership in clinical excellence, and our goal has always been to put patient safety at the top of our medical care list. This new software package will help us with that ongoing patient care mission," said Mark Woodring, CEO of Myrtue Medical Center.

"Our company is committed to providing affordable, healthcare IT solutions that improve medication safety, increase quality, are easy to implement and support clinicians - especially those working in rural communities. We believe that our vision to make the world a healthier place through the use of information technology to improve communication and coordination of patient care is directly aligned with all of our clients and in particular those serving in rural critical access areas," commented Dewey Howell, MD, PhD, CEO of Design Clinicals.

MedsTracker enhances the medication reconciliation process which has been identified by TJC as a key component to patient safety and well-being. The application was designed by practicing physicians and IT experts who understand the complex provider workflow of inpatient admission, transfer and discharge and the challenges of seamless integration with hospital data systems.
