Story of faith takes place in the Cherokee lands circa mid-1800s

This novel describes the life of a half-breed Indian boy growing up during the unsettled era of the mid-1800s. Later, they are again forced to move west under a government directive. His father abandons the migration and brings his family back to Alabama. Dan finds himself straddling two cultures, not sure of his acceptance in either. But can Dan eventually overcome his false pride and distrust to become an ambassador for Christ?

A retired teacher with a keen interest in the history of the South during the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, Witherspoon enjoys writing about the ordinary people who worked on the riverboats and lived in the small communities during these times. Steamboats and Butterflies is partially autobiographical in that many of the areas and events described in the book reflect the author's personal experience--and the book itself is a reflection of his own personal testimony.
