San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) March 31, 2008 -- The StartABank division of the NuBank Group kicked off its fifth annual Bank Formation Workshop series in San Francisco on March 28, 2008, and will provide courses in major cities across the US on how to start a community bank. As in years past the workshop series focuses on the basics of forming a new bank, however, has expanded to incorporate new areas of focus such as green and mobile banking.

At the heart of the program is crucial information on how to start a bank, including an overview of charter selection, regulatory governance and capital acquisition. Topics address the changing economic landscape, and what financial institutions can do to open and operate successfully given the current mortgage environment, sub-prime crisis, credit crunch, and weakening dollar. Specifically, the series will offer information on products and solutions that can increase core deposits and generate additional revenue streams so that banks can realize profits from more than just lending activities.

This year’s hands-on workshop allows attendee interaction with bank clients that have opened or are currently in the bank formation process. Additionally, an array of qualified experts from the banking field specializing in de novo banks will be available to discuss technology as a market differentiator, the importance of the correspondent bank relationship, bank secrecy laws and regulations, mobile banking, ecommerce platforms, specific regional market needs and other relevant subjects to make a bank successful.

Talent to assist interested parties in the bank formation include the following sponsors: Hunton & Williams, LLP; core technology provider firms 21st Century Financial Services, Fiserv and Jack Henry & Associates; Abound Resources; correspondent banking firm, Nexity Bank; Taylor, Bean & Whitaker Mortgage Corp, and The Entrust Group which offers self-directed retirement plan services.
