These requirements cover the fire safety aspects of industrial trucks with internal-combustion engines, such as tractors, platform-lift trucks, fork-lift trucks, and other specialized vehicles for industrial use.
Specifically, the standard covers the following types of trucks:
Types G, D, LP, and G/LP - Trucks fueled with gasoline (G), diesel fuel (D), liquefied petroleum gas (LP), or either gasoline or liquefied petroleum gas (G/LP), having fuel, electrical, and exhaust systems provided with minimum acceptable fire safeguards.
Types GS, DS, LPS, and GS/LPS - Trucks fueled with gasoline (GS), diesel fuel (DS), or liquefied petroleum gas (LPS), or either gasoline or liquefied petroleum gas (GSLPS), provided with safeguards in addition to those required for Types G, D, LP, and GILP.
Type DY - Trucks fueled with diesel fuel (DY), provided with all safeguards required for Type DS, without any electrical equipment, including ignition equipment, and equipped with temperature limitation features.
