Local Denver plastic surgeon recommends doing thorough research before deciding upon a procedure and surgeon.

Denver, CO (PRWEB) March 6, 2008 -- The recent passing of Kanye West's mother, Donda West, have brought the dangers of plastic surgery to light. Donda West passed away in November 2007, after having undergone abdominoplasty and a breast reduction. Her surgeon was Jan Adams, MD, of Beverly Hills, California. He is the host of Discovery Health Channel's "Plastic Surgery: Before and After" program. However, Dr. Adams is NOT a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), nor does the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) list him as being certified by ABPS.

According to a 2004 study, in the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, serious complications from plastic surgery procedures are uncommon. This study found that a complication from tummy tucks, breast enlargements, reductions and liposuction is rare. Ms. West's death is tragic; however, it has created awareness for consumers who are considering plastic surgery.

Make sure the surgeon you choose is board certified by the ASPS, and is listed with ABPS. Before choosing a surgeon, ask a lot of questions and talk to people who have had the procedure you are considering. Be sure to seriously think about the procedures side effects. The ASPS website has the latest news in the plastic surgery industry.
With expertise in both silicone and saline breast implants, Dr. Stephen Goldstein, M.D., is recognized as a premier Denver breast augmentation specialist. He strongly encourages patients to take the initiative and be proactive in their search for properly credentialed surgeons, as well as weighing the benefits and risks of any procedure. While there are some risks with every surgery, patients considering having procedures done, should check with the appropriate resources, to ensure their surgeons are certified. "Make sure the surgeon you choose is board certified by the ASPS, and is listed with ABPS. Before choosing a surgeon, ask a lot of questions and talk to people who have had the procedure you are considering. Be sure to seriously think about the procedures side effects. The ASPS website has the latest news in the plastic surgery industry."

A board - certified Denver plastic surgeon, Dr. Goldstein has over 20 years of experience in Denver plastic surgery. He also trains and lectures other surgeons nationally and internationally on procedures he has mastered.
