New Gardening Web Site FloweringMemories.com Not Just for Gardeners

Download this press release as an Adobe PDF document.

FloweringMemories.com is a new web site designed to preserve memories of your garden with journals, photographs and scrapbooking. The "Kids in the Garden" journal is designed for budding gardeners with story starters, suggestions for garden-related drawings and places for photographs.

Skokie, IL (PRWEB) March 27, 2008 -- "Your flowers won't last forever, but your memories will," proclaims writer and award-winning storyteller Naomi Leithold, as she unveils the new gardening website FloweringMemories.com, featuring products to preserve stories of the garden.

Documenting your story of the garden can begin with journaling in an attractive, handcrafted book adorned with a decorative cover and containing twenty creatively embellished pages. Journaling topics include: "Gardening Tricks," "Seeds Yielding the Best Results," and "Recipes for Natural Remedies for Garden Maladies." In addition there are blank pages to record your own thoughts, draw plans for flower or vegetable beds, and to save growing tips from gardening magazines.

The story can continue through photographs documenting the successes of the growing season. Display them in archival safe albums, a calendar, or on a 12x12 framed page ready to bring the bright hues of your flowers into any room in your home. The one-of- a-kind pages are ingeniously designed and embellished to enhance your garden photos. Prices range from $10 to $100.

"If you are as garden-obsessed as I am," Leithold says, "you'll want to record the splendor of your current landscape, plan for future growing seasons, and keep the memories of past ones alive."

FloweringMemories.com also offers a "Kids in the Garden" journal, which provides budding gardeners with a vehicle to create and preserve stories with a gardening/nature theme. Thought-provoking story starters such as, "A flower looked up at me and said…"stimulates older children to write or younger ones to dictate fun-filled fantasy tales.

"This activity taps children's creativity and develops their storytelling and writing skills," Leithold declared. "It stretches their imagination and improves their ability to communicate."

"Kids in the Garden," an 8 x 8 spiral bound, twenty-page journal with a unique kid-friendly handcrafted cover, is appropriate for children ages four to nine. Besides story starters, it includes suggestions for garden-related drawings and provides space for photographs of your child in a garden setting. A package of colored pencils and a sheet of theme-related stickers are included in the $25 price.

Leithold, an avid gardener and award-winning storyteller, is a former kindergarten teacher at The Latin School of Chicago and former director of a Jewish Council for Youth Services preschool. She also has been a columnist for Chicago Parent magazine, author of chapters for "how-to" storytelling books, and publisher of four audiotapes of children's stories and adapted folk tales.
