Updated Web Marketing Association' Internet Standards Assessment Report Includes Historical Data Derived from a Decade of Hosting Internet Award Competition, WebAwards, and Provides Best Practices for Computer Retailer Web Design.

West Simsbury, CT (PRWEB) April 3, 2008 -- WebAward08.org- The Web Marketing Association, host of leading web site awards competition WebAwards, released the Internet Standards Assessment Report (ISAR) to help the computer retailer industry learn to create more effective and engaging web sites.

"As the standard of excellence for web sites continues to increase, consumers (and WebAward judges) are increasingly picky about what they consider to be an effective web site," said William Rice, president of the Web Marketing Association, Inc. "The real story here is Critical Mass's Dell Home/Home Office Website finally knocking HPshopping.com from the top spot - a position it held for an unprecedented five years in a row."

The WebAwards competition judges computer retailer web sites on seven criteria that combined create award-winning web sites:

  • Design
  • Innovation
  • Content
  • Technology
  • Interactivity
  • Copywriting
  • Ease of use

Computer Retailer Web sites have equaled or
outperformed the overall ISAR index nine out of the last eleven years with only marginal underperformance in 2002 and 2004. These sites have outperformed the 5-year criteria benchmark in interactivity, but fall well below the average in innovation. Computer retail sites also do well in the content area.

The 2007 WebAward for Best Computer Retailer Web site went to T3 for Dell Virtual Office.

Other past winners include:

  • 2006 Critical Mass for Dell Home/Home Office
  • 2005 HPshopping.com for HP's Direct to Consumer e-Commerce store
  • 2004 HPshopping.com for hpshopping.com
  • 2003 HPshopping.com for hpshopping.com
  • 2002 HPshopping.com for hpshopping.com

A complete list of past computer retailer winners can be found online.

Companies and organizations wishing to have their computer retailer Web site evaluated against the ISAR Index and be considered for a WebAward, which can help boost a Web site's credibility and marketing efforts, can learn more at WebAward08.org.
