Earth Day is coming and GreenPromise.com aims to spur global change through a new community feature on its Web site. My Green Promise lets users log promises to make sustainable lifestyle changes. As incentive, for each of the first 5,000 Green Promises made, GreenPromise.com will plant a tree.

Pingree Grove, IL (PRWEB) April 9, 2008 -- Just in time for Earth Day 2008, GreenPromise.com has launched a new interactive tool to help users generate sustainable changes in their lives. Users can log on and submit Green Promises -- commitments to perform sustainable actions, large or small, that will benefit the planet -- which will be displayed for the world to see.

My Green Promise is an interactive database of individual promises to lead a more sustainable lifestyle. Green Promises are organized by category and include a description, obstacles faced, goal date and percent completion. Users can read and comment on Green Promises, send private messages to other users and update the status of their own Green Promises. Other features include receiving email reminders of promises made and a free monthly newsletter. Users 13 and older can create a free account at http://www.greenpromise.com.

Every change, no matter how seemingly insignificant, becomes a catalyst for more change. And if we can reach millions of people through our site, the sum effect will quickly show that no change is too small.
Key aspects of goal setting include writing down goals, setting specific deadlines, listing obstacles and regular progress review. My Green Promise offers all these in an effort to help people do more than just promise to live green.

"We like to think of this as a global To Do list for saving the planet," said Kevin Thull, GreenPromise.com cofounder. "Every change, no matter how seemingly insignificant, becomes a catalyst for more change. And if we can reach millions of people through our site, the sum effect will quickly show that no change is too small."

As an incentive, GreenPromise.com will plant 5,000 trees through Trees for the Future -- one for each Green Promise made. In addition to that, GreenPromise.com will plant a tree for every Green Promise fulfilled.

The site also will serve as a community of like-minded people hoping to change their lifestyles in an effort to help ease the global burden. Regardless of how green they are, My Green Promise offers users a chance to show their true shade of green with pride.
